A basket of blow-and-listen instruments that teach breath control and delight in the sound of a first note.
Ages 3-615 min prep

A basket of blow-and-listen instruments that teach breath control and delight in the sound of a first note.
Line up the cut straws side by side from longest to shortest and tape them together to make a panpipe.
Show your child how to blow gently across the top of the straws, not into them.
Try the recorder next: cover no holes and blow softly to hear the highest note, then cover one hole at a time.
Hum into the kazoo — the vibration will surprise them.
Let your child pick a favorite and play a tiny concert while you clap.
Wipe each mouthpiece before returning it to the basket.
Blow softly, not hard. Making the softest possible sound is a wonderful breathing exercise for little ones.
