This is the only party in the whole Parties Basket that is for one child. No guest list, no favour bags, nobody else's shoes in the hallway. Just the one small person whose tooth came out today.
It started with my daughter, who lost a tooth and did not want to give it away. She wanted to keep it, look at it, and hear what it meant. So the party became less about the fairy taking something and more about what the fairy left behind.
The whole thing takes half an hour to set up after bedtime, and it is one of the few evenings my children still talk about months later.

The dust is what makes children believe the room was visited. A pinch of fine iridescent glitter sprinkled on the windowsill, a trail across the bedside table, and three or four specks on the doorframe at their height is plenty — a fairy is small, and the mess should be small too.
Do it after they are asleep, with the light off and your phone torch pointing at the floor. In the morning the glitter catches the sun and they find it before they find anything else.
Tip: sprinkle it onto a surface you can wipe, not onto carpet or bedding, and keep the jar somewhere very high up.

This is the part I care about most. Losing a tooth is the first visible proof a child has that they are growing, and it is worth naming out loud.
So the fairy does not only take a tooth. In exchange, she leaves one quality — one grown-up thing that arrived in the night. Courage. That is what my daughter got first, because she was the one who wobbled it out herself.
I keep a list on my phone and pick the next one each time, matching it to what is happening in their life: courage, responsibility, loyalty, independence, generosity, curiosity, flexible thinking, empathy, respect. Pick the values that matter in your home, and the ones your child is quietly working on.
The note itself is three lines: thank you for the tooth, tell them what grew, and one small piece of evidence you saw of it this week. That last line is what they reread.
Not every child believes in the fairy, and some who do still want to keep the tooth. Both are completely fine and neither ruins the magic.
My daughter does not believe, and she wanted the teeth. So we have a little box, and the fairy writes the note anyway. The story becomes something we make together instead of something I tell her — and honestly, that version is nicer.
One plate. Star-shaped sandwiches cut with a cookie cutter, a few marshmallows, strawberries, pastel sprinkles scattered over the plate, and pink lemonade in a glass that is nicer than the everyday ones.
A short line of pastel bunting over their chair and a cupcake with one candle. They blow it out for the tooth, which children find very funny and very serious at the same time.
Ten minutes at the table, then school. It should stay small — the smallness is the point.
