Nature Bingo Basket

A slow-walk nature bingo basket with printable cards — tuck a card and a pencil into a basket and turn any walk into a gentle scavenger hunt.

Ages 3-65 min prep

What you'll need

  • The printable Nature Bingo cards (download below) — 3 A4 pages with 2 different cards on each, so 6 cards in total
  • A short pencil or a chunky crayon for marking finds
  • A small woven basket or cloth pouch to carry it all
  • Optional: a clipboard or a small piece of cardboard as a firm surface for marking
  • Optional: a small magnifying glass and a paper bag for collecting a few tiny finds

How to make it

  1. 1

Download the printable Nature Bingo PDF from the resources below and print all 3 pages on plain white paper.

  2. 2

Cut each page in half along the dotted 'cut here' line so you have 6 separate bingo cards.

  3. 3

The night before a walk, tuck one card, a pencil, and (if you like) a magnifying glass into the basket so the invitation is ready in the morning.

  4. 4

On your walk — the garden, a park, the sidewalk under the trees — invite your child to look, listen, and find the things pictured on their card.

  5. 5

Each time they spot something on the card, they mark the little circle in the corner of that square with the pencil.

  6. 6

For younger children (3-4), play together and celebrate every find out loud — the goal is noticing, not filling the whole card.

  7. 7

For older children (5-6), turn it into a quiet challenge: can they get a full row, a full column, or the whole card before you turn back home?

  8. 8

Back home, slip the used cards back into the basket for next time, or start a small nature journal by taping the marked card into a notebook.

Tip

Each of the 6 cards has a different mix, so siblings can play the same walk without racing for the same finds. Laminate the cards or slip them into a clear sleeve and use a dry-erase marker to reuse them again and again.
