What you'll need

  • Medium cardboard box
  • Child-safe scissors or craft knife (adult use)
  • Colored paper or fabric scraps
  • Hand puppets or sock puppets
  • Markers or stickers for decoration

How to make it

  1. 1

    Cut a rectangular window in the front of the box to create a stage opening.

    Decorate the box with curtains, stars, or scenery.

  3. 3

    Place the box on a table edge so little hands can reach underneath.

  4. 4

    Introduce the puppets and start a simple story together.

Tip

Let your child be the narrator while you operate the puppets, then switch roles.
