Kitchen Utensils as Theater Characters
Wooden spoons and a whisk become a whole family of characters with a scrap of fabric and a story to tell.
Ages 3-615 min prep

Wooden spoons and a whisk become a whole family of characters with a scrap of fabric and a story to tell.
Lay out the utensils and ask your child who each one wants to be — a grandma, a knight, a dancer, a baby.
Wrap a fabric scrap around each utensil handle like a dress or cape and secure with a rubber band.
Tie a ribbon at the neck for a scarf or bow.
With adult help, draw a small face on each spoon with a permanent marker (optional — many kids prefer imagining the face).
Set the cutting board on a low table as the stage.
Start a story: 'One morning, Grandma Spoon woke up and heard a strange noise in the kitchen…' and let your child continue.
After the show, the fabric comes off and the utensils go straight back to the kitchen drawer.
